Read 1 Kings 3:16-28.

1. Anytime a story begins with “then two prostitutes,” it seems like it might be interesting. Does that make me weird?
2. OK, so two prostitutes just gave birth. In the time-honored tradition of me reading way too much into a story, might I point out that these children were more than just offspring. They meant at least 6 months or so without any chance to make “income.” Um, you do the math. They were prostitutes. So, although I’m sure they were glad to be having kids, they might have also gotten a little stretched out on needing some money. No matter what way you look at this situation, this isn’t good. So, I could see how having a child could at least make this somewhat good. But also, keep in mind, more than likely, neither of the moms knew who the dad was either.
3. Um…isn’t this a little weird. Stealing babies to “cover up” the fact that yours died. Sounds like an episode of Dr. Phil.
4. Solomon is extreme, but this is an example of some awesome common sense. “Get me a sword!” Yeah, the real mom showed her maternal instincts at that moment. The other was just bitter and wanted to “win.” Nice…

So…this was just one example of his wisdom. Or maybe this was just an example of one woman’s stupidity?
