Read Acts 22:30 - 23:22.

1. Interesting, so Paul is escorted, by the commander, into a meeting of the Sanhedrin. This ought to be fun…
2. Wow, how many people can be comfortable saying that they have fulfilled their duty to God in all good conscience? Paul didn’t break any rules. And what does he get for saying it? A punch in the mouth, at the order of Ananias (oh, the guy who was a part of Jesus’ trial).
3. Paul didn’t take that sitting down! He said, essentially, “God’ll punch you in the face! You hypocrite!” Paul was fiery. Of course, they didn’t like Paul saying that to Ananias, the Godfather.
4. I guess Paul didn’t actually know that Ananias was the high priest. Maybe he would have been nicer if he knew that he was in charge. Interesting verse. “Do no speak evil about the ruler of your people.” If only that were the case in America…
5. Paul sidetracked everyone by talking about his “hope in the resurrection of the dead.” This was the point of contention between the Pharisees and Sadducees. So, basically, Paul got them to argue with each other…
6. He got the Pharisees on his side. If not due to the fact that they like him, basically just to prove a point about the resurrection and angels speaking to man. Regardless, the whole crowd was frenzied; and Paul was swooped out of there by the commander.
7. Wow…can you imagine if an angel came to you and told you that you were going to preach in the center of the world? Wow.

8. Wow, those Jews were all about killing Paul; and they were willing to lie, conspire, and starve themselves to make it happen. Why was Paul such a threat to them?
9. Hmm…Paul had a nephew, and he had Paul’s back. Nice. He ratted them out. Oooh, the plot thickens…
