1. So, this journey of getting Paul to testify in front of Caesar has taken a detour. They are now on the island of Malta. The island people were nice to them. Hooray.
2. Paul freaked them out, though, when he was bit in the hand by a viper! They thought that he must have been evil for surviving a wreck and being “punished” so quickly. But, after he didn’t die form being bitten, they changed their minds and thought that he was a god! Craziness. This is why some churches play with snakes to prove their faith. Um…no thanks?
3. Publius seemed like a nice guy and was rewarded for his hospitality by Paul healing his father from dysentery. Then Paul healed everyone else! Then they were set to sail for Rome.
4. I think it’s ironic that their boat had some fake gods on it, since Paul is coming to bring the real God to Rome.
5. All hail Syracuse. The Orange! 2003 NCAA Basketball Champions.
6. Talk about a long trip. I think travel has become a little more stream-lined in recent years…
